NEWS FROM THE COMMODORE

.I guess for me, the realization that we have already held our dock decommissioning
party this past Sunday, is that the days are rapidly getting shorter, the sailing
season will be replaced by brief winterization season, followed by a long boat
wrapping season.
However,  It aint over until the fat lady sings, and she is not even in the building.
We still have our world famous chaos weekend to look forward to Saturday, October 18-19.
This year we will be trying something completely different, or maybe not.
I am told that the first chaos weekend was held in this very same spot, Oyster Bay Cove.
We will meet at GPS coordinates,  N 40°52.536' / W73°30.427'.  This is an
approximately location and will depend on the availability of anchorage scope.
The first boat to arrive should radio the rest of the fleet to inform them of the
conditions at the site and to relay the actual coordinates.
If you have not done so please visit the new web site;
http://ambiance215.homestead.com/.
Helga has written an nice article about the last raft up.
Congratulations to Al and Jim for putting in countless hours to make this web site
truly befitting the fine club we have.  We are nothing if not for the effort of our
outstanding members.
Many thanks to all who came, brought food, and cooked at the Dock Decommissioning.
While it started out a bit chilly after a while the sun came out and we were back
enjoying short sleeve weather. There were ribs, chicken, sausage, and shrimp aplenty,
I don't think any one walked away hungry after this fest.
In the Next day or two, thanks to Debbie, you will receive and invitation to our Gala
Decommissioning Dinner.  This promises to be a fun filled ending to a spectacular
sailing season and I'm sure you will not want to miss it.  Please send in  your check
as soon as possible.  We need to let the Yacht club know how many of us will be attending.
I have heard from many people who enjoyed last years Chinese auction and I am asking
all the attending boats to bring an item to be raffled off in this years auction.
Warm winds, and calm seas.
